Indigenous Data Governance and Management Training Workshop

BCALM will be hosting an Indigenous Data Governance and Management training workshop April 8 and 9, 2024 at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC (8811 River Road, Richmond, BC). Travel day to the workshop will be April 7, 2024, and travel home day will be April 10, 2024.
Indigenous Data Governance and Management Workshop
Join us for the Indigenous Data Governance and Management Workshop, designed to empower First Nations in British Columbia to enhance control, access, and possession over community data. With a focus on spatial and Indigenous Knowledge data, this workshop equips participants with skills in Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Governance. Through hands-on learning, attendees will gain practical tools to bolster data-driven decision-making in their communities. Our goal is to support First Nations by ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and steps to effectively implement Indigenous Data Sovereignty. Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance data management within your First Nation.

Location: River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC
Workshop Participants: Only 40 participants will be accepted for this workshop and is on a first come, first served basis. This workshop is open staff who work with knowledge holders or who those who engage with or manage spatial and/or Indigenous Knowledge for your Nation.
What is covered by BCALM
Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided April 8 and 9, 2024.
Participants will organize their own transportation and may be eligible to apply for reimbursement for travel costs for mileage, flights, commercial transportation, and meals that are not provided by BCALM during the workshop. The Travel Form is blow (receipts are required for reimbursements). Maximum $3,000 per First Nation. As space is limited, only one representative per First Nation will be accepted for reimbursement.

Note: Please notify BCALM 24 Hours in advance if you are unable to attend the workshop/training or failure to do so will result in any costs incurred to BCALM to be invoiced accordingly and will solely be the responsibility of the participant.
