How to Build a First Nations Lands Department Workshop

HOW TO BUILD A FIRST NATION’S LANDS DEPARTMENT WORKSHOP
BCALM will be hosting a How to Build a First Nation’s Lands Department Workshop February 13th & 14th, 2024 at the Delta Hotels Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort in Kelowna, BC (1310 Water Street Kelowna, BC).
Travel day to the workshop will be February 12, 2024 and travel home day will be February 15, 2024.
The How to Build a First Nation’s Lands Department Workshop is intended to be a resource and tool for lands staff that may not be familiar with the requirements of a land management office set-up. The workshop will provide participants with the information to better understand the fundamentals of managing a lands office. Key components of a land management will include an overview of office equipment, software, record keeping, finance, communications and archives. Focus will be on best practices to promote well-organized and efficient land management, streamline processes and build strong relationships with internal departments and external third parties.
When: February 13th-14th, 2024
Location: Delta Hotels Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort, Kelowna BC
Workshop Participants: Only 20 participants will be accepted for this workshop and is on a first come first serve basis.
What is covered by BCALM:
BCALM will be responsible for booking of hotel rooms and hotel charges such as room, tax, deposit and parking. Any other hotel charges will be the responsibility of the participant.
Breakfast, Lunch and snacks will be provided on February 13th & 14th, 2024.
Participants are eligible to apply for reimbursement for travel costs for mileage, flights, commercial transportation, and meals that are not provided by BCALM during the workshop. Reimbursement Form attached (Receipts are required for reimbursements).
How to Register
Please fill out the Workshop-Training registration form (attached) as soon as possible to confirm your attendance and return to Megan Nicholas, BCALM Administrative Assistant at admin@nalma.ca.
Deadline for Registration: February 2, 2024.
Note: Please notify BCALM 24 Hours in advance if you are unable to attend the workshop/training or failure to do so will result in any costs incurred to BCALM to be invoiced accordingly and will solely be the responsibility of the participant.
