Join us for three days of interactive, practical, and land-based environmental management training designed for First Nations lands and environmental professionals. Through shared learning, practical tools, and conversation, participants will explore environmental management and Indigenous stewardship using the Environmental Management Training Manual developed by BCALMA in partnership with Dillon Consulting.

The training brings together technical knowledge and practical approaches grounded in Indigenous stewardship, laws, values, and community priorities.

Day 1 | Wednesday, October 21
Stewardship, Governance & Environmental Foundations

Explore Indigenous stewardship and governance, environmental legislation and regulatory processes, water security, biodiversity, and food sovereignty through presentations, discussion, and shared learning.

Day 2 | Thursday, October 22
Environmental Management in Practice
Build practical knowledge in waste management, contaminated sites, emergency preparedness and climate readiness, environmental risk, project decision-making, and tools and technology for lands and environmental management.

Day 3 | Friday, October 23
Cumulative Effects & Land-Based Learning
Explore cumulative effects through guest presentations and land-based learning that connects concepts from the Environmental Management Manual with environmental change, cumulative pressures on lands and waters, stewardship responsibilities, and community-informed decision-making.

The final day provides an opportunity to learn through observation, discussion, and shared experience on the land, connecting the training with practical approaches to environmental management.

Supporting Indigenous stewardship through knowledge, collaboration, and practical tools.

Travel Information
BCALMA Member Travel Sponsorship: BCALMA members are eligible for travel sponsorship of up to $1,500 per First Nation. More than one participant from a First Nation may register; however, the maximum travel sponsorship available is $1,500 per First Nation. Additional participants may be subject to a registration fee. Not a BCALMA member? First Nations interested in joining BCALMA can contact admin@bcalma.ca for membership information. Annual membership is $300 per First Nation.

Travel & Accommodation: Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodations.

Hotel Booking: $186/night at Delta Hotels Kamloops. Book by September 20, 2026.
