Swan Planning Consultancy Surveys

By April 29, 2026No Comments

Good afternoon RLAs!

We are reaching out to ask that you please share and complete one of these surveys if you have land use planning roles (e.g., regulate development on lands, lead Land Use Plans or Comprehensive Community Plans, Housing Manager, etc.), are a planner or planning student! We have launched two surveys to help gather information to inform discussions around the creation of an Indigenous planners’ association. One survey is for Non-Indigenous Planners and Students, and one is for Indigenous Planners (or individuals with planning roles) and Students.

Background

Formed in late 2025, the Indigenous Community Planners Collective (ICPC) is a group of Indigenous planners from coast-to-coast driven by the need to elevate Indigenous self-determination, leadership, and representation in the profession. The ICPC is an open group to Indigenous planners and planning students. The primary mandate of the ICPC is to explore the creation of a professional association for and by Indigenous planners, regardless of their place of work. The ICPC retained Spirit Rock Consulting and Swan Planning Consultancy Inc. to support research and engagement to gather insights to inform this work, including the creation of these surveys, undertaking interviews and preparing case studies.
