Land-Based Peer Mentorship Retreat
We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for BCALMA’s Land-Based Peer Mentorship Retreat, taking place March 18–20, 2026 at Fraser River Lodge in Agassiz, BC.
Hosted in Cheam First Nation (Xwchiyo:m), this three-day, family-friendly land-based learning experience will bring together emerging and experienced First Nations Land and Environment staff and their families for connection, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.
Emerging: less than 2 years experience
Experienced: more than 2 years experience
Participants will:
- Strengthen foundational land governance knowledge
- Explore environmental stewardship practices
- Build a community of practice through peer mentorship and knowledge transfer
- Participate in an ecological restoration tour
- Engage in Indigenous storytelling
- Take part in campfire sharing circles and a family scavenger hunt
- Tour local initiatives and community-led work
This retreat is designed to create space for intergenerational learning, relationship-building, and shared leadership in a supportive and family-friendly environment.

Travel Support:
Travel sponsorship is available for BCALMA members upon request.
**Registration is not limited to one participant per First Nation; however, sponsorship is only available for up to $1,500 per First Nation. If your First Nation would like to register additional participants, please contact us at admin@bcalma.ca.
**Additional participants may be subject to a registration fee.
