SUMMARY:Practical Application of Land Surveys 
DESCRIPTION:Practical Applications of Land Surveys is for land managers that wish to know more about being hands-on with a survey project on reserve lands. This course builds on the process of a survey project that was taught in ‘Introduction to Surveys’\, and provides practical information about the process that is broken down into five categories: \n1) understanding the survey requirements and the information that is required on a survey plan\, \n2) preparing a project sketch\, \n3) reconnaissance of a survey to assist in preparing a cost estimate and the project sketch\, \n4) basics about field work including the use of a total station and GPS\, whether it’s for surveying\, mapping or just navigating. And field basics about survey traverses and how the math works\, then \n5) office work\, which is about putting it all together from field work to a draft plan. \nThis course delves into the practical aspect of various components of a survey project that will assist a lands manager with preparing a cost estimate and project sketch and being able to discuss a project with a land surveyor and where applicable with other stakeholders. \nDates: February 10-12\, 2026 \nLocation: Vancouver\, BC \nLanguage Delivery: English \nSponsorship: Maximum $3\,000 per First Nation.
